Marine Rescue CDA Responds to Boat Fire Near Higgins Point

On Saturday, May 31 2025, Marine Rescue CDA responded to a significant vessel fire approximately half a mile off Higgins Point on Lake Coeur d’Alene. Working in coordination with Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, Kootenai County Fire & Rescue, and Coeur d’Alene Fire Department, our team assisted in the Salvage and hazmat cleanup operation.
Our partners at Precision Marine Salvage joined us to recover the burned vessel and contain all hazardous materials. The salvage was successfully completed later that afternoon, with all fuel, debris, and environmental hazards removed from the water.
We want to extend our appreciation to all agencies involved for their professionalism and teamwork during this multi-agency response. We also thank the public for their patience and for respecting the no-wake zone while divers and recovery crews were in the water.

Seaplane Recovery on Lake Coeur d'Alene
When strong overnight winds and waves caused a vintage 1952 DeHavilland Beaver seaplane (N9LB) to partially sink at Brooks Seaplane Dock, Marine Rescue CDA was called to lead the recovery. Our team responded immediately, deploying divers, lift bags, salvage vessels, stabilize, and bring the aircraft safely back to the surface.
This complex operation demonstrated the professionalism and skill that define Marine Rescue CDA. From underwater rigging to dewatering and environmental containment, every step was carried out with precision, safety, and care for Lake Coeur d’Alene’s waters and shoreline.
